Animal Use and Care Training Sites
Projects
d’Vinci Interactive has developed 4 Web-based courses for the Office of Animal Care and Use: Using Animals in Intramural Research, Animal Use Refresher Course for Animal Users, Animal Use Refresher Course for Principal Investigators and Using Animals in Intramural Research: Guidelines for Principal Investigators. These courses introduce and reinforce the principles of proper and humane treatment of animals used in laboratory settings, with each course geared to a different audience. Each site tracks student progress and completion and is designed for cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility.
Approach
d’Vinci Interactive was given content and images by an Office of Animal Care and Use subject matter expert. Our challenge was to find creative ways to blend the text and graphics to make the program as visually interesting as possible.
d’Vinci’s Role
We created the opening animations using Flash, designed all interface elements, manipulated images to make them work effectively with the text and did all of the programming using DHTML and WebDNA. Student tracking includes marking sections completed, a printable certificate of completion and administrative access to all appropriate reports related to students’ progress. d’Vinci Interactive delivers Web-based Training (WBT) & Computer-based Training (CBT) e-Learning solutions.
